Migrate

Move from Odoo
with the files you already have.

There is no direct Odoo connection yet, and we are building one. Until it ships, the route is the one Odoo already gives you: export a list view to a CSV file, then import that file here. Each importer shows a preview before anything is written.

Direct Odoo import: being builtCSV import: live today
The move, in three steps

From an Odoo list to a Navalo workspace.

Step 1

Export from Odoo

Open the list view in Odoo, select the records, then choose Action and Export. Pick CSV. Ticking the import-compatible option keeps the column names plain.

Odoo's own guide to exporting data

Step 2

Import into Navalo

Drop the file into the importer for what it holds. Navalo suggests a match for each column, you correct any it got wrong, and the preview says how many records will be created or updated.

Step 3

Check the result

Open what was made before anybody relies on it. A CRM or client billing import can be undone in one step; an imported project can be deleted and imported again.

What comes across

Three importers, each live today.

Each takes the file Odoo exports for that kind of record. The plan each one needs is read from the plan table.

Projects and tasks

Every plan

From an Odoo Project task list. Each row becomes a task on a new project, with one column per status.

Title, status, due date, priority and description. An assignee comes across when the name or email matches someone in your workspace.

Contacts, companies, leads and deals

Every plan, with the CRM installed

From Odoo Contacts and CRM. One file per kind of record, up to 5,000 rows a run.

A contact or lead is matched on email, a company on its domain and a deal on its name, so running the same file again updates what is there instead of duplicating it.

Clients and invoices

Team and above

From a customer list or an invoice export. An .xlsx or .csv file, up to 5,000 rows.

Clients, and one-off invoices as drafts. Recurring plans need Business. Nothing is sent and nobody is charged by the import.

Straight answers

What stays in Odoo.

Said before you start, so nobody finds out after the move.

  • Attachments, chatter messages and activity history stay in Odoo.
  • Links between records are not rebuilt, except a contact's or deal's company, matched by name, and a deal's contact, matched by email.
  • Accounting entries, journals and payments have nowhere to go: Navalo has no general ledger.
  • Manufacturing, inventory moves, point of sale and payroll records are not imported.
Questions

Moving from Odoo.

Is there a direct Odoo importer?
Not yet. It is being built. Today the route is a CSV export from Odoo and the importers described on this page, which are all live.
Do we need to stop using Odoo first?
No. An import is a one-off copy. Nothing is written back to Odoo and nothing keeps syncing, so you can try Navalo beside it.
What if a column does not match?
Pick the field it belongs to in the preview, or leave it out. Columns nobody mapped are listed by name before you import, so nothing goes missing quietly.
