Ava finds places and books them

Ask Ava for a restaurant, venue or event; pick a time that works for everyone; book it into Navalo calendars.

Ask Ava the way you would ask a colleague: *"find a quiet Italian place near Union Square for 6 on Thursday around 1"*. Ava answers with cards, not a paragraph.

What a place card shows

  • Photos, rating, price level, the opening hours on the day you asked about, the address with a map link, the distance and the place's own website.
  • Every one of those comes from the search provider (Google). Ava never invents a place, a price, a time or a link.
  • Press a card for the times: the top three when the place is open and the most invited people are free. Each time says who is free and who is only maybe free. Outside guests show availability unknown, because Navalo never sees their calendars.
  • A small timeline of the day shows the place's hours and the suggested times side by side.

Booking

  • Pick a time and Ava shows a confirm card. Nothing is booked or sent until you press Book. Not now closes it.
  • Book makes a Navalo calendar event with the place as its location and a map link, and invites the members you chose. They answer it like any invitation.
  • Outside clients are invited only when you tick Also invite (client) by email on that card. The box is off every time. See Inviting people from Ava.
  • Ava's window grows to fit the cards and goes back to its normal size when you book or press Not now. Your to-do list steps aside for that card only; your own show or hide choice is kept.

Reservations

No reservation system is connected yet, so Navalo never books a table or fills in a booking form for you. Instead the booked card offers Reserve on (site), which opens the place's own booking page, and Mark as reserved with an optional confirmation number, so everybody on the event can see it is done.

Events

Ask for events ("jazz concerts this weekend", "a basketball game Saturday") and Ava searches Ticketmaster's listings near your search area, inside the days you asked about. Each card shows the date and time, the venue and its address, the price range when Ticketmaster gives one, and a link to the event on Ticketmaster's site, where you buy tickets. Navalo does not buy tickets. An event search counts as one search against your workspace's search allowance, like a place search.

Paste an Eventbrite link and Ava reads that one event. Eventbrite does not let apps search its events by keyword, so Eventbrite events come in by link only.

Ask by voice

Hold the microphone in Ava's window (web or phone) and ask your question out loud, up to a minute. The words come back for you to send like typing. The audio is not kept: it is transcribed and discarded. It uses your workspace's AI credits.

After booking

  • Events you booked with Ava, invitations waiting for your answer, ones you accepted and declines on your own events show under Needs attention on Home (labelled Booked with Ava) and in the home briefing.
  • An email reminder goes the day before and about two hours before, to you and the members invited, in each person's own time zone, with the place and a map link. Quiet hours hold it until your quiet time ends, and if that is after the start, no reminder is sent. The Due reminders email setting turns them off.

Plans

Finding places, times, booking and invitations come with the Team plan. Budget checks against Finances, reservations once a provider is connected and Outlook mailbox drafts come with Business. Searches have their own monthly allowance; see Ava's budget line and search limits.

Note

This applies where your workspace has the latest organization tools switched on. Where they are off, everything works as it did before.
