Structures: Settings mode and Map mode

One structure, two editors: Org settings and the structure map edit the same thing.

Org settings and Structure maps edit the same structure; nothing is copied between them. Settings mode (the default) leads with Org settings; Map mode leads with the maps. People who manage members switch under Organization, Structure, at any time. Nothing moves when you switch.

Map tools

  • A legend by level, using your organization's own labels, and Colour by level.
  • Show notes turns on a notes layer that never changes the organization. A note can be turned into a division, department, team or role.
  • Search by person, role or unit; follow the chain of command (reports to, below, dotted lines).
  • Headcount and open seats per unit, and collapsing a unit.
  • Sub-organizations as containers: Integrated ones are part of the tree, Linked ones sit under their parent unit, Independent ones are shown for governance only.

Attaching a sub-organization by dragging

Under Sub-organizations on this map, drag a sub-organization onto a division or department box that stands for a real unit (or use Attach under... from the keyboard). Nothing changes yet: Navalo shows the same preview as a link mode change, person by person. The sub-organization is attached only when you press Attach here, and it keeps its own settings. Only the main organization's admins can do this.

Map folders

Under Organization, Structure you can make a New folder, rename or delete it (its maps go back to Not in a folder; maps are never deleted with a folder), and move a map by dragging it onto a folder or from the row's More menu, Move to folder. Folders change nothing about who can open a map.

Note

This appears where your workspace has the new organization tools switched on. Where they are off, everything works as it did before and these screens do not show.
