Navigation presets and the priority setting

Layouts for a division, department, team or role, which one wins, and how people are asked before anything changes.

Admins can make a navigation layout for a division, a department, a team or a role (and for groups, when that is switched on). People in that unit or role get the layout.

When more than one applies

  • Nav preset priority decides: Highest rank wins (the default) or Most specific wins.
  • A priority set on a preset itself overrides that rule.
  • A tie goes to your primary role, then to the most recent assignment.

Asked first, never overwritten

If you never changed your navigation, it follows the preset on its own. If you did, you are asked once: Use this layout, Keep mine or Preview. Keep mine is remembered. A change can be undone for 7 days, from the notice or under Settings, Appearance, Navigation layout. Leaving a unit keeps the navigation you have.

Clear preset structure / nav resets the level labels and removes the presets. Everyone keeps what they currently see.

Note

This appears where your workspace has the new organization tools switched on. Where they are off, everything works as it did before and these screens do not show.
