Places, your location and the workspace address

Where Ava searches from, when it asks for your location, and the places you can save.

Where Ava searches from

  • The area you name in the question, if you name one.
  • Otherwise your device's location, only if you allow it, for that one search.
  • Otherwise the workspace address (Administration > Organization > Workspace address, set by people who manage members). With none set, Ava asks once where to search from and offers to save the answer.
  • Navalo never guesses where you are from your internet address or your history.

Your device's location

  • Ava asks the first time a search needs it, explains why, and then your browser, the desktop app or your phone asks too.
  • It is used for that one search and is not kept unless you press Save my current location.
  • Change your answer in Settings > Privacy & data > Places & location: Ask each time, Allow or Never. Never wins even if your browser would allow it.

Saved places

  • Your own places (home, office, a client's site) are yours alone. They come with Team.
  • Workspace places (offices, sites, client addresses everyone can pick) are managed by people who manage members and come with Business.

"Somewhere between me, Acme and Dana"

Ava finds the middle of the places it is allowed to use: your own places or device (with permission), workspace places and the workspace address, an account address in the CRM you can see, and a teammate's own saved office (only toward the middle of three or more places, so it can never be worked out). The card says which kinds were used. Nobody's address is ever shown: to anyone else, a person is only ever near the middle.

Note

This applies where your workspace has the latest organization tools switched on. Where they are off, everything works as it did before.
