Sub-organizations: link modes and usage by workspace
Integrated, Linked and Independent sub-organizations, the preview before a change, and the usage breakdown.
Each sub-organization has a link mode, set under Organization, Sub-organizations:
| Mode | What it means |
|---|---|
| Integrated | Uses the main organization's units and roles. This is what "Use the parent's roles, teams and divisions" used to be. |
| Linked | Keeps its own tree, placed under a unit of the main organization, and can start from the main organization's role templates. Offered only where it has been turned on for the main organization. |
| Independent | Has its own structure entirely. |
Owners and admins of the main organization always see and administer every sub-organization. With the new tools on, the old Use the parent's roles, teams and divisions card is hidden: that choice is made here, as a link mode.
Changing a mode
Changing a mode shows a preview first. It lists, person by person, the permissions they would gain or lose, the projects and chat rooms they would gain or lose, and any role with the same name that was not given because it is above what you hold. A change that widens or narrows anybody's access needs you to confirm the preview, and a preview that has gone stale is refused (Preview it again). Leaving Integrated copies the roles and the team and division places people hold, so nobody loses access.
Usage by workspace
The main organization sees seats, AI use (as a share, never money), storage and extensions for each workspace, each with its share of the total. You can ask for an alert when a sub-organization passes a share you set. Billing stays with the main organization.
This appears where your workspace has the new organization tools switched on. Where they are off, everything works as it did before and these screens do not show.
