Who did this? Ava, Autopilot, agents and Navalo

Four names can appear beside work a person did not type. What each one means, and how to read the small marks.

When something in Navalo was written, counted or changed by a machine rather than typed by a person, a small grey mark beside it says who. The mark uses one of four names, and each name means one thing.

NameWho it isWhen it acts
AvaThe assistant you ask.Only when a person asks it something or presses a button that asks it. It works inside that person's own permissions.
AutopilotThe project manager for one project. On the schedule set on that project, or after a meeting on it finishes, and only as far as the autonomy level set on that project allows.
An agent, by its nameAn agent on the Agents page, such as the Finance Controller. On its own scope, as far as its autonomy for each kind of change allows. Every agent answers to a person, its sponsor.
NavaloThe app's own rules. No AI model is involved.Whenever the page is built: counting, sorting, checking dates and budgets, or a plain summary when no AI summary was written.

Reading the marks

  • Written by Ava or Drafted by Ava: Ava wrote the words. A draft waits for a person to check it, change it and save or send it.
  • Proposed by Autopilot: Autopilot suggests a change, and nothing changes until a person accepts it. At the higher autonomy levels set on a project, Autopilot also makes some changes on its own; those are named in the activity trail.
  • Watched by and an agent's name: that agent keeps an eye on this. Open the agent from the Agents page to see what it noticed and why.
  • Counted by Navalo or Built by Navalo: the figures or the text come from the app's rules, from records you can see. No AI wrote them.
  • From a meeting, From a won deal and similar: where a suggestion came from. When you are allowed to open that meeting or record, the mark is a link to it. When you are not, it says so, for example From a meeting you cannot open, and shows nothing from it.
  • Stated, Inferred and Needs input on a dossier: whether a value was said by a person, worked out, or still missing. Needs input is the only mark in amber, because it asks you to do something.

Where to look after the fact

  • A project's activity trail names who made each change. A change Autopilot made on its own says so, and the people whose work it moved can Keep or Revert it.
  • An agent's step log lists everything it noticed, suggested and changed, with links to the records it rests on. A record you cannot open is counted, not named.
  • Changes Ava makes for you are recorded as yours, because you asked for them.
Tip

A mark is never a reason to trust something more. It tells you where to look before you accept: the meeting a suggestion came from, the figures a summary rests on, or the agent that flagged it.
