Recurring plans and automatic payment

Bill a client every week, month, quarter or year, by link or from their saved card.

A plan bills a client on a schedule. Start one from the client's Billing panel with New plan, from a blank plan or a saved plan template (for example Gold, monthly).

What a plan holds

  • Price lines, and how often it bills: weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly.
  • How long it runs: until someone ends it, for a number of payments, or until a date.
  • Whether the client can end it themselves from their billing page, choosing one of your reasons.

Each period, Navalo makes the invoice and sends it. A period is never billed twice.

Automatic payment

  • Tick Charge the client's saved card automatically. The client must save a card first: Navalo emails them a link to add one, and keeps billing by link until they do.
  • Stripe must be connected and its checklist confirmed. See Getting paid with Stripe.
  • Clients who pay automatically get no reminder emails, only receipts.
  • If a payment keeps failing, the plan pauses, or keeps invoicing and leaves the invoices unpaid. You choose per plan.

Changing and ending

  • A change to the price lines starts with the next period. This period stays as it is, and the client gets an email.
  • End plan ends it at the end of the current period; the plan does not renew. A paused or ended plan can be reactivated.

Plans

Recurring plans and automatic payment come with the Business plan.

Note

This applies where client billing is switched on for your workspace. Where it is off, invoices work as they did before.
