Payment reminders and follow-ups
What happens before and after an invoice's due date, and how to change it.
Unless you change them, these steps run for every sent invoice that is still owed:
- 3 days before the due date: a friendly heads-up email.
- 3 days after: a friendly reminder.
- 10 days after: a firmer reminder with the client's statement.
- 20 days after: a task to call the client, for the CRM record's owner.
- 30 days after: the client is flagged on their CRM record and everyone who can bill is told.
Change the steps under Follow-ups in the invoice settings. Each step happens once per invoice.
When no reminder goes
- The invoice is paid, void or has nothing left owing.
- The client pays automatically, or turned reminders off on their billing page.
- A payment on the invoice is disputed.
- The address has reached its email limit for the day (see Sending invoices your clients can pay).
With client billing on, these steps replace the weekly overdue reminder to the invoice's creator.
Note
This applies where client billing is switched on for your workspace. Where it is off, invoices work as they did before.
