Changing your sign-in email
Why a new email needs a confirmation, and what to do if you didn't ask for one.
Your sign-in email changes only after the new address is confirmed. Until then you keep signing in with the old one, so a typo or somebody else at your desk can't move your account away from you.
How it works
- Open Settings → Profile and press Change email.
- Confirm it's you: your current password, a code from your authenticator app, or a code we email to your current address.
- Type the new address. You can choose to sign out your other devices once the change goes through.
- Open the link we send to the new address and press Confirm new email. The link works once and expires after 24 hours.
Your current address gets a notice at the same time, with a Cancel this change link. While a change is waiting, Settings → Profile shows it and lets you cancel it.
Didn't ask for this?
Open the notice sent to your current address and press Cancel this change. That stops the change and signs out every device on your account. Then sign in again and change your password.
Good to know
- If the new address already belongs to another Navalo account, nothing changes. For privacy we don't say so on the screen; the other address is told instead.
- Starting a new change cancels the one before it, so only the latest link works.
- You can start up to three changes an hour.
- If Navalo staff change your email for you (for example after you contact support), the same rules apply: you confirm from the new address, and your current address is told.
- Accounts that sign in with Google or Microsoft keep using that sign-in after the change.
