Polls in chat
Ask a question with options, choose single or multiple choice, keep it anonymous, close it on a timer, or schedule it.
Type /poll in any chat, or pick Poll from the + menu. Write the question and two to ten options.
Choices
- Multiple choice lets people pick more than one option. Percentages are of the people who voted, so they can add up to more than 100.
- Anonymous shows only the counts. Nobody, including the person who made the poll, can see who chose what. Navalo keeps one vote per person so the counts are honest, but never shows it.
- Closes is when people can stop voting: when you close it yourself, a set time after it is posted (1 hour, 1 day, 3 days or 1 week), or at a date and time you pick, at least 5 minutes after it is posted.
Voting
Press an option to vote. In a single-choice poll, press another option to change your vote, or press yours again to take it back. In a multiple-choice poll each press ticks or unticks an option. The person who made the poll, or an admin, can Close poll early.
Scheduling a poll
Under When, choose Schedule and pick a time. The poll is created and opens when it is sent, not when you schedule it, so a closing time like "1 day" counts from the send. A closing date and time must fall after the send time: Navalo refuses it otherwise, and checks again if you move the send time.
A scheduled poll sits in Scheduled messages with the rest of your queue. Edit opens the same poll builder; Cancel stops it, and no poll is ever made. If the poll is posted outside the other person's working hours, Navalo asks first, as it does for a message: Send now posts it and stops asking in this conversation for a while.
On the phone
The Navalo phone app shows the whole poll: the options with their counts and percentages, single or multiple choice, anonymous, the closing time or Closed. You can vote from the phone; making a poll is on the web and the desktop app.
A poll can't be edited once it is posted. Close it, or delete it and post a new one.
