The Handbook: sections, pages and drafts
One place for how your workspace works: a menu of sections and pages, breadcrumbs, search, and new pages drafted where they will live.
Open Handbook from the Toolbox. The menu on the left starts at Home, then lists your sections; open a section to see the pages under it. Policies have their own group under the sections. Above every title, breadcrumbs show where you are.
Reading
- Pages sit on the page, not in a box, with On this page on the right for long pages.
- Search the handbook and policies from the bar at the top. Press / to jump to it.
- Readers see no edit or download buttons. People who can edit the handbook find every action in one ... menu beside the title: edit, add a page under this one, move, version history, download and delete.
- On a phone, Contents opens the menu as a sheet.
Adding a page
- 1Press New page, or Add a page here at the end of a section in the menu. A section is just a page with pages under it, so Add a section works the same way one level up.
- 2An Untitled page appears in the menu right where it will live, marked Draft, and opens as the editor.
- 3Write a title, a one-line summary (link cards show it) and the page itself. A draft saves itself as you type.
- 4Press Publish. Until then only you and handbook editors can see the draft.
Who can do what
- Everyone in the workspace reads published pages.
- Creating, editing, moving and deleting pages needs the same permission as before (editing projects).
- Deleting a page moves the pages under it up one level; nothing below it is lost.
- One person edits a page at a time. If someone else saved while you were editing, Navalo tells you instead of overwriting their changes.
