Selling Inventory items on an invoice

Pick a stock item or a priced asset as an invoice line; its stock leaves when the invoice is sent and comes back if it is voided.

  • On a draft, Add item lists the stock items and priced assets you can see. The price fills in only if you can see Inventory prices; otherwise you type it.
  • Stock moves when the invoice is sent, once per line, from the location holding the most of it. A draft never moves stock, and a retried send never moves it twice.
  • Selling more than you have is allowed (a back order) and shows a warning. The usual low-stock alert fires.
  • Voiding the invoice puts the stock back where it came from.
  • Plan lines can be picked from Inventory too; each period's invoice moves its stock when it is sent.
  • When an automatic payment's invoice cannot take an item out of stock (no location to take it from), the invoice is still made, so the payment always has its invoice. The line is marked and the people who bill clients are told to record the movement in Inventory.
Note

This applies where client billing is switched on for your workspace. Where it is off, invoices work as they did before.
